Green Frog Market is proud to announce our 75th year of doing business as Bakersfield’s premier grocery store by announcing our Grand Re-Model of the Bernard Store. 

Green Frog Market’s Alta Vista & Bernard store was opened in 1941 by Charlie Everett and designed to meet the needs of the surrounding neighborhood. To celebrate our 75th Anniversary, Green Frog Market remodeled our market to demonstrate our re-commitment to our customers and to assure our neighborhood we are here to stay. We are in the process of completing an updated and renovated store [a metamorphosis] - or as some might say - just getting ourselves to have a “clean’em up look” with some new merchandise to better serve our customers. 

Our Alta Vista store is located at the corner of Alta Vista and Bernard. It is a statement of our continued story of serving our customers’ needs with a commitment to the very best quality, personal service, and merchandise requested by our customers.

 Green Frog will now offer its traditional grocery store atmosphere with new and exciting features such as an expanded Health and Nutrition Department, a Coffee Bar, the Tadpole Community Room for visiting and relaxing over a cup of coffee and pastry, a delicious “Grab n’ Go” meals venue, and we are bringing back our Saturday Barbeque!

July 2, 2009 - Latest News - Many Thanks to Melissa Vreeman and KERO TV 23, Scott Cox and Kern Radio 1180 AM, and to the many fine Green Frog customers who showed up so early in the morning for the Coffee taste off. June 29, 2009 - Our Coffee Of The Month this month is KERO TV 23 Melissa Vreeman's Morning Weather Blend and the Scott Cox Blend. Yes, our Coffee Of The Month is actually two coffees this month. We're having a friendly showdown between custom blends designed for two local media personalities this month to see which one is the most popular coffee. Wednesday morning July 1st starting at 5am Melissa Vreeman will be doing live segments and weather reports from Green Frog market on the KERO TV 23 No Bull Morning News show. Scott Cox will be there too for at least part of the morning. No doubt he will also be talking about it later on his KERN 1180 AM morning radio show. Tune in for the coffee showdown!
   Scott's blend is a very dark blend, one of the darkest we sell. It is very robust and has strong characteristics. Melissa's blend is also fairly dark, though not quite as dark. It is rich and is a great way to start off any day. Both blends can be recommended to true coffee lovers for a fine coffee experience.

    Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful song and this news will certainly be music to your ears. We have locally grown fresh blueberries at great prices. Sweet California cherries are
at the peak of their harvest now. Take some home today and enjoy some of the best taste and prices of the season on these two great California fruits.
